U.S. Senator Mel Martinez, a Repubican from Florida, stands outside his childhood home in Orlando, Florida. Born in Cuba, Sen. Martinez came to the U.S. in 1962 as part of a Roman Catholic humanitarian effort called Operation Peter Pan, which brought into the U.S. more than 14,000 Cuban Children. He lived in this Orlando home with a foster family until being reunited with his family in 1966.
